Q. Do you have parking at No 53?
Due to our city centre location we do not have our own parking. However, there are a few options if you choose to drive to us.
There is an NCP carpark about 0.5 miles from us, this is secure parking and costs about £21/24 hours https://www.omniedinburgh.co.uk/Parking.
The on-street parking restrictions in the city centre are from 8.30am-6.30pm, during this time you can park your car for up to three hours using the ‘pay and display’ parking bays.
About 1 mile from us there is free on-street parking, this is not secure parking.
Outside No 53 there is a loading bay, when you arrive you may park here for 5-10 minutes to unload luggage, we can then advise you of your best parking options, and show you parking locations on a map.
Edinburgh is a small city with great public transport, so you are unlikely to use a car while you are here, to avoid costly parking we usually suggest guests collect a car on the day on departure.
Q. Can I check in late?
Yes, you can check in late. If you plan to arrive late please let us know in advance so we know to wait up for you. It is appreciated if when you arrive you phone us rather than ringing the main doorbell, to avoid waking up out other guests.
Q. Can I check in early?
You can arrive at No 53 from 8am to leave your luggage with us. Our check-out time is 11am so we are unlikely to have your room ready before 12 noon, we will be able to give you a more accurate time on the day.
Q. Can I check out late?
Our check out time is 11am, we will accommodate a late check out if possible but as a small guesthouse this is often not possible as our cleaners need into the rooms, or we may have early arrivals. If you are travelling later in the day you are welcome to leave your bags with us while you enjoy the city.
Q. What is the difference between a Guesthouse/ B&B and a hotel?
We are a B&B or Guesthouse, this means we are much smaller and a little less formal than a hotel.
Q. Why do I need to provide an arrival time?
We live here, so can be here whenever you plan to arrive. However, it is just two of us (Katy & David) who run the guesthouse, so we cannot be here all the time and we would hate to pop out just as you are arriving! We understand sometimes plans change or there are travel delays on the day, just phone to let us know.
Q. Are there staff there 24/7?
We do live here, so are available most of the time. If we are not in the office, please ring the bell on the door. If we are not in the house, you can reach us on the phone, 0131 226 2752.
Q. What is an ensuite room, and a ‘separate bathroom’?
We have 14 rooms, one room has a ‘separate private bathroom’, this means the bathroom is private to the bedroom but across the hallway, from the bedroom.
An ensuite shower room is attached to the room.
Q. Do you have an elevator/ lift?
No, we don’t. We are located on the second and third floor of a traditional Edinburgh building, unfortunately they didn’t think to include space for a lift when our home was built over 230 years ago!
We are always happy to help you up the stairs with your luggage, please just ask!
Q. Is breakfast included?
Breakfast is included with all direct bookings, this means bookings made on our own website, by email or over the phone.
When booking through agents such as booking.com, Expedia, etc you must add breakfast on to your booking if you would like to include it.
If you book a room only rate and would like to have breakfast, you are welcome to buy it when you are here.
